Delhi Capitals beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by seven wickets in the Women’s Premier League in Vadodara. Marizanne Kapp, Minnu Mani and Nandani Sharma led a disciplined Capitals attack to skittle out RCB for just 109 before Laura Wolvaardt anchored the chase with a composed knock.

‌Delhi Capitals rose to second in the Women’s Premier League 2026 campaign with a thumping seven-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Vadodara on Saturday. Marizanne Kapp led the clinical display with an all-round show, picking up two wickets as the side skittled out RCB for a paltry total before remaining unbeaten with a valuable knock of 19 runs in the chase.

After being asked to bat at the Kotambi Stadium, the Royal Challengers had a cautious start before captain Smriti Mandhana opened up with consecutive boundaries in Chinelle Henry’s second over, before pulling off an encore against Nandani Sharma an over later. Meanwhile, her partner Grace Harris also joined in with fours off Marizanne Kapp as RCB looked to end the powerplay on a high. But Kapp struck back in her next over to dismiss Harris as the score read 39/1 after six overs. Though Smriti and new batter Georgia Voll held fort for a brief period, the RCB innings unravelled after the skipper’s dismissal. The side slipped from a comfortable-looking 62/1 in the first half to be dismissed for 109 in the last ball of the innings. Incidentally, Smriti was the only batter to cross the 20-run mark, finishing as the side’s top run-getter with six boundaries and a six in her 34-ball 38. Meanwhile, young pacer Nandani was the pick among the Capitals’ bowlers with a spell of 3/26 in four overs, with Henry, Kapp, and Minnu Mani also chipping in with two wickets.

In reply, Shafali Verma came out all guns blazing against Lauren Bell with three boundaries off the England pacer in the first over. But she could not sustain the momentum as a rush of blood resulted in her moving out of the crease against Sayali Satghare, with Richa Ghosh making no mistake with the stumping. With Lizelle Lee also departing in Sayali’s next over, RCB had a game in hand. But captain Jemimah Rodrigues and Laura Wolvaardt steadied the ship with a third-wicket stand of 52 as the Capitals breathed easy. However, RCB had themselves to balme dropping the pair as many as three times during their stand to throw away any chance they had of defending a small total. Though Jemimah departed after a patient 24 off 26 balls, with the side 34 runs adrift, Wolvaardt stayed till the end to complete a lop-sided contest with more than four overs to spare. The South African skipper hit four fours and a six in her 38-ball 42, with countrywoman Kapp giving her company as the Capitals ended at 111/3 and Satghare ending with 2/18 in three overs.
